Trolls on social media tried to spin a concert video into a story that Carrie Underwood can’t sell tickets since associating with President Trump…. and it’s the latest example of why you can’t believe everything you see on the internet.
The world wide web was invented to connect all of us together. It didn’t take long for the invention to become villainous, and most point fingers to the advent of social media. I’m sure we’ve all had experiences or run-ins with hateful comments and misinformation online. Even the beloved Carrie Underwood has had her fair share of negative online interactions, and from her perspective, they’ve only gotten worse and worse as time has gone on.
And a recent post utilizing a Carrie Underwood concert performance from this past weekend is trying to convince the masses that the country music star can barely draw a crowd in 2026. The social media user who shared the video claimed that Underwood has lost her fanbase ever since she performed at Donald Trump’s Presidential Inauguration in early 2025. She’s actually been branded as “MAGA” by a ton of people on social media ever since that moment.
In reality, this video is from Carrie Underwood participating in the “Concerts on the Course” series, which was put on during the John Deer Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Here’s how it worked: those that had purchased tickets to watch the PGA Tournament on Saturday then got free access to the Carrie Underwood concert put on an hour after the competition had concluded.
Bad weather came through the area at one point later in the day, which caused the finish of the golf tournament to be delayed an hour. In other words, a number of people that were probably planning on sticking around to hear some of Underwood’s hits like “Before He Cheats” changed their minds due to the weather. And this is just a guess… but I doubt many country fans were going to buy a ticket to the John Deere Classic just so they could see Carrie Underwood.
That’s why this video – which still shows plenty of people in the audience – was weaponized against the country superstar… and quickly got community noted, as you’ll see below. One look at the account and you’ll see it’s nothing more than anti-Trump nonsense:
“Carrie Underwood used to sell out huge arenas. Ever since she’s been tainted with the Trump stench, she’s been playing to crowds of dozens.”
That community note was ready to take down that post from the top rope. And normally, I wouldn’t waste my time commenting on a post like this, but it’s reached over 4 million people and has over 11,000 likes.
Just in case you missed it, readers added context to the post that was mighty helpful in discrediting the claims that that Underwood was now “playing for dozens” instead of selling out arenas:
“These images are from a concert held as a part of the John Deere Classic golf tournament, not from a Carrie Underwood concert. Carrie ended her sold-out residency in Las Vegas in April of 2025 after four years. Since then, she has headlined many festivals.”
Shoutout to the community note for setting the record straight. It still looks like plenty of people stuck around for the post-round concert, and even if they hadn’t, Carrie Underwood would have put on a heck of a show like the consummate professional that she is.
