Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, have been estranged since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020. However, there have been signs recently that the relationship might be repaired. The two met in September of 2025 by themselves and then had another meeting with Meghan Markle, Queen Camilla, and Harry and Meghan’s kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

So, at the very least, it felt like the relationship was on better terms. But is it going to bring lasting peace? Reportedly, the two have not talked since their last meeting, and there are no plans to meet again as of now.

“The reunion ended, Harry flew back to California, and that was it,” one palace insider told Naughty But Nice. “There hasn’t been a single conversation since. People wanted this to be the start of something bigger, but right now there’s nothing else on the calendar.”

Expecting one meeting to fix everything was, of course, always a fantasy. It is an important first step towards reconciliation, however. “It was an important first step, not a miracle cure,” another royal source said. “Everyone left feeling the meeting was worthwhile, but nobody walked away believing everything had suddenly been fixed.”

Right now, the door seems open, but things are still complicated. “The door hasn’t been slammed shut,” one source explained. “But it hasn’t been thrown wide open either. Until someone makes the next move, the relationship is standing completely still.”

And reportedly, something that happened after the meeting might complicate things. Markle shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, including one that allegedly showed the family of four walking to the late Princess Diana’s grave. The picture has caused a lot of controversy, and reports indicate King Charles and Prince William weren’t happy.

Markle didn’t confirm where the photo was taken, but some believe the photo was taken in the Althorp Estate gardens, where Princess Diana’s grave is.

“Camilla’s words appear to have fallen on deaf ears,” a royal source told New Idea. “She feels that she was clear about no social media posts and if Meghan thinks Althorp was an exception, she was very wrong.”

Reportedly, Camilla had “warned” Meghan not to share anything about the visit. “She made it clear that this was for Archie and Lilibet,” the insider explained, “but if there were any leaks about their meeting, the door would be closed forever.”

The King and Camilla allegedly feel that with the picture, Markle “broke the golden rule” and Charles is “extremely disappointed” with both Harry and Meghan. “He was told by everyone, including William, that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be able to keep their traps shut, but he still opened up the doors for this reunion,” the insider added.

“He wants Harry back home where he belongs, but this isn’t the Harry he once knew,” they continued. “Now the family is dead against inviting the Sussexes back for Christmas.”
