THREE contestants were left stumped by a tricky letter riddle that whittled down the competition in its final stages.

With just ten players remaining, host Lee Mack challenged them to answer the tough 15% question.

It read: “Which two words, that contain the same five letters as each other but in a different order, mean the same as the two words below? Fairly silent.”

The clock began to tick with the remaining players doing their best to find the answer from within the recesses of their minds.

As usual Lee chimed in with a timely gag telling the contestants: “And the answer isn’t Silent Fairly.”

As the time elapsed it was revealed that three of the ten had got the question wrong.

Contestant Jackie successfully got the answer right but told Lee that she was getting “less confident with every question”.

The correct answer was “quite quiet”.

However, sadly for Jackie, she was soon knocked out, with the 5% question proving too much.

For that question, the contestants were presented with a jumbled up clock face with the minute hand pointing at six, which was in the 12 position, and the small hand close to 10, which was where nine is usually found.

They were tasked with working out the time on the clock if the hands moved 30 minutes clockwise. The answer was 10 o’clock.

Jackie was the sole casualty of the question and her exit paved the way for five contestants to have the opportunity to win a potential £97,000.

All five men standing decided to gamble their £10k prize for a chance of winning more money and to become a member of the 1% Club.

The question was: “What new word links the capitalised words below? My SON TED ate raw FOOD and got SICK, then went to BED with me by his SIDE.”

The question defeated all five finalists, but can you work it out?

The answer was revealed to be “sea” which could be placed before each word to make a series of new words.
