Scotty McCreery Stops Concert After Allegedly Seeing Man Hit Woman in Crowd
Scotty McCreery was in the middle of his performance at the Colorado State Fair on August 24, 2024, when he suddenly stopped the show after appearing to see a man strike a woman in the audience.
The country star, who rose to fame after winning Season 10 of American Idol, immediately turned his attention away from the stage and toward the disturbance. He called for police and security, confronted the man from the stage, and made sure the woman was okay before continuing with the concert.
The moment was captured on video and quickly drew attention online, with many viewers praising McCreery for stepping in rather than ignoring what was happening in the crowd.

McCreery Stops Mid-Song to Address the Incident
The incident happened at McCreery’s concert at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado. He had just begun performing “It Matters to Her,” a song that holds personal significance for him because it is his wife’s favorite.
Then he noticed something happening near the front of the audience.
McCreery stopped singing and pointed toward the crowd, saying, “Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir.”
He immediately called for authorities and asked whether the woman was okay.
“Absolutely not,” McCreery said before directing police and security to intervene. He also told the man to leave, making it clear that the behavior would not be tolerated at his show.
The singer continued to monitor the situation while security and police moved toward the individual. Audience members also helped by pointing authorities toward the man.
Video from the concert shows that the performance remained paused while officials dealt with the situation. The interruption lasted more than two minutes before the show resumed.
“That’s the Definition of a Coward”
McCreery did not hide his anger over what he had witnessed.
As authorities worked to remove the man, the singer told the crowd to identify the person who had hit the woman, calling the alleged assault “absolutely unacceptable.”
After the man was escorted away, McCreery had another message for him.
“Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady,” he said.
He then checked on the audience, asking whether everyone was okay, before returning to his performance.
The crowd responded with cheers and applause as the situation was brought under control.
Colorado State Fair Confirms the Incident
Colorado State Fair officials confirmed that an incident occurred during McCreery’s performance in which a man assaulted a woman and the singer stopped the show.
At the time, officials said the incident remained under investigation and that security had assisted with crowd control. The identities of the man and woman involved were not initially released, and it was unclear whether the man had been arrested.
Officials also asked anyone who had video or photographs of the incident to provide them to Colorado State Fair security as part of the investigation.
A later update provided additional information. The woman was evaluated by onsite emergency medical personnel following the incident but declined transportation to a hospital by ambulance. Colorado State Fair Police identified the man that night and referred potential charges to the Pueblo County District Attorney’s office.
McCreery’s representative said he would not comment on the incident.
A Concert Interruption That Drew Widespread Attention
The confrontation quickly spread across social media after concertgoers shared footage of McCreery stopping his performance and addressing the situation.
The singer’s decision to pause the show also prompted discussion about how performers can respond when serious incidents occur in the audience. Rather than continuing with the performance, McCreery used his position onstage to draw attention to what he had seen and bring security and police into the situation.
Once the man had been removed and the situation was under control, McCreery returned to the music.
For the singer, the interruption lasted only a few minutes. For those in attendance, however, it became one of the most memorable moments of the Colorado State Fair concert.
The investigation into the incident continued, while McCreery’s actions drew praise from fans who saw his response as a clear stand against violence and inappropriate behavior at a public event.
