First released in 2023, the BBC drama stars Ukweli Roach as DI Jack Caffery and is adapted from Mo Hayder’s acclaimed Jack Caffery novels. At the same time, hundreds of miles away in Monmouthshire, the wealthy and isolated Anchor-Ferrers family are facing a nightmare of their own.

What should have been time spent at their country home becomes terrifying when the family finds itself trapped and subjected to increasingly cruel psychological games. With no obvious way out, they are left trying to understand who is tormenting them — and why.

The two seemingly separate stories gradually move toward one another until Jack uncovers a clue that puts him on a path toward the Anchor-Ferrers home.

Production company Hartswood Films describes the series as a crime-thriller and horror mash-up designed to be “nail-biting and deeply disturbing.” The drama consists of six hour-long episodes and was adapted for television by Megan Gallagher.

Ukweli Roach Leads a Strong British Cast

Ukweli Roach takes the central role as DI Jack Caffery, while Game of Thrones and Misfits star Iwan Rheon appears as Molina and Sacha Dhawan plays Honey.

The ensemble also features Juliet Stevenson as Matilda Anchor-Ferrers, Owen Teale as Oliver Anchor-Ferrers, Annes Elwy as Lucia Anchor-Ferrers and Sian Reese-Williams as DI Lincoln.

Kristoffer Nyholm and Lee Haven Jones directed the six episodes, with the production filmed across South Wales.
