Guy Ritchie Isn’t Finished With The Criminal Underworld — And His Next Thriller Has Just Added A Face Happy Valley Fans Know Very Well.

Guy Ritchie’s Next Crime Thriller Puts James Norton, Anthony Hopkins, Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike Inside One Deadly Aristocratic Family War

Guy Ritchie isn’t slowing down.

With The Gentlemen and MobLand continuing to expand their respective crime worlds, the filmmaker is already preparing another story about wealth, power and people willing to cross dangerous lines to get what they want.

This time, however, Ritchie is heading straight into the British aristocracy.

His upcoming big-screen thriller Wife and Dog brings together an extraordinary cast led by James Norton, Anthony Hopkins, Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike.

And behind the privilege and enormous fortunes lies something considerably darker.

One Wealthy Family Is About to Turn on Itself

The Gentlemen

Wife and Dog revolves around the Fairbanks, a wealthy aristocratic family whose ambitions trigger an increasingly dangerous struggle for control.

The official synopsis describes the setting as the “cut-throat world of the British aristocracy.”

At the centre is a battle involving succession, inheritance and corporate power.

But this isn’t simply a family arguing over who receives the biggest piece of the fortune.

Their ruthless decisions eventually lead to betrayal and murder.

It’s territory perfectly suited to Ritchie’s fascination with complicated power structures, shifting loyalties and characters attempting to outmanoeuvre one another.

James Norton Joins a Remarkable Cast

Happy Valley

Among the biggest attractions is the collection of British acting talent Ritchie has assembled.

James Norton, known to audiences for acclaimed television work including Happy Valley and Grantchester, is part of the ensemble.

He’ll be joined by Oscar-winning screen legend Anthony Hopkins, whose career includes his unforgettable performance in The Silence of the Lambs.

Benedict Cumberbatch is also aboard, while Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike adds another formidable presence to the family power struggle.

With a story centred on inheritance, ambition and betrayal, the combination of those four actors alone gives Ritchie plenty of room for explosive confrontations.

Fans Will Have to Wait Until 2027

Rosamund Pike

Unlike Ritchie’s current television projects, Wife and Dog is being made for cinemas.

The thriller is scheduled to arrive on February 19, 2027.

That means viewers still have a considerable wait before discovering exactly how the Fairbank family’s battle unfolds.

For Norton, the movie arrives amid another busy period. He has also been announced as a host of Saturday Night Live, continuing an increasingly varied run of projects.

Ritchie, meanwhile, already has his attention on projects stretching even further into the future.

Ritchie Is Already Planning Another Crime Project

James Norton will return to Happy Valley for series 2

The filmmaker is also working on Viva La Madness, currently lined up for 2028.

The project is expected to put Ritchie himself in front of the camera alongside familiar collaborator Jason Statham.

Vinnie Jones, Jason Isaacs and Camila Mendes are also named among the cast.

Details remain limited, although the story centres on an unnamed protagonist hiding in the Caribbean while waiting for the attention surrounding a previous job to disappear before returning to London.

That suggests Ritchie has no intention of abandoning the criminal underworld that has defined so much of his work.

His Television Worlds Aren’t Finished Either

Ritchie’s growing slate also extends beyond the cinema.

According to the supplied report, both MobLand and The Gentlemen have been renewed for third seasons, ensuring that two of his biggest television crime worlds will continue.

But Wife and Dog promises something slightly different.

Instead of gangsters fighting over territory on the streets, the new film places its conflict behind the doors of privilege, where inheritance and control of a powerful family empire become reasons to betray the people closest to you.

With James Norton, Anthony Hopkins, Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike caught inside the same ruthless family struggle, Ritchie may not need traditional gangsters at all. In Wife and Dog, Britain’s aristocracy appears ready to become every bit as dangerous.
