The 1% Club leaves 16 players stumped with tricky dice puzzle. Could you get the answer?

Sixteen contestants were knocked out by a deceptively simple dice puzzle on The 1% Club, leaving viewers at home with just 30 seconds to work out the answer.

The ITV quiz show, hosted by Lee Mack, is known for testing logic, observation and common sense rather than relying on general knowledge. This time, contestants had to look at a set of visible dice faces and work out every possible way to reach a total of 10.

Can you solve the dice question?

The challenge appeared during the 30% round of the latest episode.

Lee Mack asked contestants:

“Using only the faces of the dice you can see and each of them just once, how many different ways can you add them together to make a total of ten?”

The image displayed numbers from 1 to 5, with the number 6 missing.

Contestants had only 30 seconds to identify every possible combination that would add up to exactly 10.

It proved much harder than it looked. By the time the answers were revealed, 16 players had been eliminated after getting the question wrong.

There are three possible answers

Lee eventually revealed that the correct answer was three.

The first combination is:

5 + 4 + 1 = 10

The second is:

5 + 3 + 2 = 10

There is also a third possibility that does not use the 5 at all:

4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10

Those are the three combinations that satisfy the rules, with each visible number used no more than once.

The wording of the question was crucial. Contestants had to consider every possible combination rather than simply find one way of making 10, which made the 30-second time limit particularly challenging.

One contestant went on to win £96,000

The dice puzzle was only one of the hurdles in the episode.

By the time the game reached the final 1% question, just three contestants remained. Cameron managed to answer the final four-digit PIN question correctly and secured the £96,000 jackpot.

His two fellow finalists were unable to give the correct answer, leaving Cameron as the episode’s only jackpot winner.

The episode demonstrated how quickly the numbers can change on The 1% Club: a seemingly straightforward puzzle about adding dice faces was enough to eliminate 16 players, while Cameron ultimately made it through to the final question and walked away with £96,000.
