Bradley Walsh erupts into laughter after Shaun Wallace makes bizarre mistake on The Chase

A question about an unlikely animal worker sent The Chase into fits of laughter when Shaun Wallace gave the wrong answer and Bradley Walsh could barely keep himself together.

The ITV quiz show is known for its tense head-to-head battles, but Wednesday’s episode took a much lighter turn when contestant Ryan faced one of the strangest questions of the round.

With no money to his name heading into the head-to-head, the 24-year-old had already endured a difficult start after failing to answer one of his cash-builder questions correctly.

Then came a question so unusual that even Bradley Walsh struggled to keep a straight face.

The bizarre Buckingham Palace question

Ryan was asked which animal had reportedly been used to lay cables around Buckingham Palace for the broadcast of Charles and Diana’s wedding.

His three choices were a mole, a ferret or a badger.

The question immediately struck Ryan as amusing.

“Can you imagine a mole taking the cables through?” he joked.

That was enough to send Bradley into a fit of laughter. The presenter began imagining what an animal worker might look like emerging from a tunnel with a cable in tow.

He joked about the creature appearing from a hole and asking where the cable needed to go, even imagining it asking for its gloves before getting to work.

Ryan eventually chose ferret, adding that he remembered the animals being used for that sort of work.

Bradley was still amused by the idea. He pointed out the size of a cable and questioned how a ferret could possibly manage it.

Ryan explained that a string, known as a pull-through, could have been attached to the cable.

Bradley remained unconvinced, joking that a ferret would be exhausted after travelling only a few feet while dragging something so large.

Shaun Wallace makes the same mistake

As strange as the question sounded, Ryan had actually picked the correct answer.

That made the next moment even more entertaining.

When Shaun Wallace, better known as the Dark Destroyer, was presented with the same question, viewers might have expected the experienced Chaser to know the answer.

Instead, he selected mole.

Bradley immediately lost what little composure he had left.

The presenter doubled over with laughter before pointing out the obvious problem with Shaun’s choice: moles are partially blind.

Bradley continued the joke, imagining the mole carrying the cable and wondering where it could possibly be heading.

The mistake left Ryan’s teammates in tears of laughter as they watched Bradley tease Shaun over the answer.

Even Shaun could not completely hide his amusement. The Chaser was seen smirking as Bradley continued to rib him for choosing the wrong animal.

The moment was all the more striking because Ryan had arrived at the correct answer despite having started the round without any money.

Shaun still gets the last laugh

Despite the blunder, Shaun Wallace ultimately had the final word where it mattered.

He went on to catch Ryan and knock him out of the game.

So while Ryan managed to beat the Chaser on the question about the ferret, Shaun eventually made sure the contestant would not be taking the money any further.

For a few moments, though, it was Bradley Walsh who stole the show, turning an obscure question about laying cables at Buckingham Palace into one of the episode’s funniest exchanges.
