Scotty McCreery Delivers Heartfelt Tribute to His Home State at Concert for Carolina

Scotty McCreery brought a deeply personal moment to a packed Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, when he performed “Carolina to Me” in honor of his home state.

The performance was part of the Concert for Carolina, a major benefit concert organized by fellow North Carolina natives Luke Combs and Eric Church to support communities affected by Hurricane Helene. Held on Saturday, October 26, the event drew tens of thousands of fans and raised more than $24.5 million for hurricane relief efforts across the region, according to Combs.

McCreery later shared a clip of his performance on Instagram on Sunday, October 27, reflecting on what he described as an “incredible night” in Charlotte.

McCreery Pays Tribute With “Carolina to Me”

The song was a fitting choice for the North Carolina native. McCreery originally released “Carolina to Me” on his 2021 studio album, Same Truck, alongside songs including “You Time,” “It Matters To Her” and “Damn Strait.”

The performance gave McCreery an opportunity to celebrate the place he calls home while taking part in an event dedicated to helping fellow North Carolinians recover from Hurricane Helene.

McCreery was among the many artists who came together for the benefit concert. The star-studded lineup was headlined by Luke Combs, Eric Church, James Taylor and Billy Strings, with performances from Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, The Avett Brothers, Chase Rice and Parmalee.

The evening also featured surprise appearances from special guests including Nicole Kidman and Randy Travis, adding to an already memorable night for the crowd at Bank of America Stadium.

A Night Dedicated to Hurricane Relief

Concert for Carolina combined music with a fundraising effort aimed at supporting Hurricane Helene relief in the region. With tens of thousands of people in attendance, the event ultimately generated more than $24.5 million, Combs confirmed.

The concert was hosted by Caleb Pressley and Marty Smith and was also available to audiences beyond the stadium through livestreams on Veeps and iHeartRadio.

For McCreery, performing “Carolina to Me” offered a particularly meaningful way to be part of the effort. His tribute came as artists from across the country joined forces with North Carolina musicians to support communities facing the aftermath of the devastating storm.

Combs, who helped organize the benefit with Church, reflected on the significance of the night afterward, saying Concert for Carolina “will undoubtedly go down as the night I am most proud of in my career.”
