Remembering Hayden Panettiere Through One of Her Most Memorable Performances

Hayden Panettiere’s career spanned television, film, and music, but her role as Juliette Barnes on Nashville gave fans some of her most memorable moments. Among them was a 2015 performance of Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” alongside Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

Panettiere died Sunday, August 16, at the age of 36.

Her father, Skip, confirmed the news to ABC News, describing his daughter as “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought love and joy to those around her and to the millions who watched her on screen.

Investigation Into Panettiere’s Death Continues

According to reports, Panettiere had been traveling from Los Angeles to the South with her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, before her death.

Greenville, South Carolina, police said officers responded to a local apartment complex at approximately 1:50 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman.

The woman was later identified as Panettiere, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An official cause of death had not been announced at the time of the report, and the investigation remained ongoing Monday morning, August 17.

A subsequent update from Greenville police indicated that there was no suspected foul play and that her death did not appear to be suspicious.

Hayden Panettiere’s Memorable “Crazy” Duet With Steven Tyler

Panettiere became widely known through a series of television and film roles. She gained particular recognition as Claire Bennet on NBC’s Heroes and appeared in films including Remember the Titans, Bring It On: All or Nothing, and Ice Princess.

Her role as country singer Juliette Barnes on Nashville, however, became one of the defining performances of her career.

Panettiere performed her own vocals throughout the series, earning significant recognition for her work. She received two Golden Globe nominations, a Critics Choice Award nomination, and recognition from the People’s Choice Awards.

Although Nashville concluded in 2018, Panettiere’s performances from the series remain memorable to fans.

One standout moment came during the season 4 premiere in 2015, when Panettiere’s character performed Patsy Cline’s classic “Crazy” before a packed arena.

She began the song alone, singing to a roaring crowd. Then Steven Tyler appeared onstage, turning the performance into a striking duet.

The collaboration between Panettiere and the Aerosmith frontman became one of the show’s most talked-about musical moments.
