Science fiction fans have been left baffled by a lesser-known TV show on Netflix which mixes sci-fi themes of time-travel with a post-apocalyptic world, leaving viewers hooked.

With the recent success of films like Project Hail Mary, it’s no wonder TV and movie fans have a new enthusiasm for the genre. But if you’ve already finished all the classics, like Star Wars and Star Trek, people are hooked by a lesser-known TV show on Netflix. So when a Reddit user took to the forum to ask for recommendations on a new TV show to watch, fans quickly jumped on the chance to share their praise for the show called Travelers.

Taking to the Netflix forum on Reddit, one user had asked for recommendations and said they ‘needed’ a new show to watch. They added: “I’m kind of picky I prefer longer shows with multiple seasons, longer episodes, and most importantly a really good story/plot that keeps you wanting to watch.”

They also listed some of their favourite TV shows which include Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Ozark, and Suits. “I’m looking for something with a strong story/plot, multiple seasons, and enough episodes to really get invested in,” they added.

People quickly took to the comment section to share their recommendations, but one show mentioned multiple times was Travelers.

“TRAVELERS!! Guaranteed you will love it,” one user said. Someone else agreed and wrote: “Finally another that has enjoyed the series. Most folks have never heard of it.”

A third user added: “I love Travelers. I’ve even rewatched it. So underrated and I’m not really sure why.”

What is Travelers about?

Travelers is a science fiction television series that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world centuries into the future, where the surviving humans discover how to send consciousness back through time.

They decide to send their own consciousness back into into random people of the 21st century, while attempting to change the path of humanity.

Armed only with their knowledge of history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers, who include an FBI agent, a single mother and a college student, quickly discover that 21st-century relationships are as much of a challenge as their high-stakes missions.

The first season premiered on Netflix in 2026, and produced three seasons before being cancelled by the streaming service, much to fans’ dismay.

The show has a rare perfect, 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, as viewers praise the plot’s unpredictability that gives a ‘fresh take’ to the concept of time travel. Viewers also really enjoyed the acting, and good writing.

One reviewer said: “It’s very addictive once you start watching it and will want to binge it as quickly as possible.”

Someone else added: “Travelers was that rare combination of the perfect sci-fi show. It had a fresh take on time travel, an extremely wonderful cast ensemble, a great story to tell, thrills galore, humour, and seriously great sci fi enough to satisfy a community of people who love sci-fi with so much bad sci-fi being offered these days.”
