Travis and Jason Kelce are the most popular NFL brothers in a long time and their cool vibes and great chemistry have taken them to a superstar status on and off the field.
Even though Jason retired from professional football last season after spending all of his 13 NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles (where he won Super Bowl LII), the eldest of the Kelces has became a beloved TV personality as an ESPN commentator and host of the very popular podcast “New Heights” along his brother Travis.
Behind their leader, the versatile and flashy quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs currently hold the best record in the NFL (11-1) and even though they have had some pretty close games, they are still the favorites to win it all once again.
A video that have a lot of people wonder what if
A video posted by The Players’ Tribune this week showed rare footage of the Kelces childhood and teenage years growing up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. As many would have guessed, the brothers rooted for the Cleveland Browns and they proudly rocked the team’s uniforms.
We can see that since an early age, Jason and Travis were destined to become superstars, with a bigger than life personality from both brothers and a very adventurous vibe. On the video we can see the siblings parents, Ed and Donna, who seemed to have a lot of fun raising the boys whether they spent time at the beach, playing in the snow or simply watching over while their kids went at it in the backyard.
The Kelces early struggles
Ed and Donna Kelce were guests on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights,” Feb. 6 2023, and during the episode the parents talked about their early struggles in life. Donna said that she grew up in inner city Cleveland in a “small house” with her grandparents living upstairs.
After moving to the suburbs in fourth grade, she said her own mother was “very ill” and passed away when she was 12 and her brother was 10. Following her biological mother’s death, Donna Kelce said her dad married a “wonderful human being” named Mary.
She motivated to go to college, despite the reluctance of her father, who wanted her to attend secretarial school. After earning a degree in broadcast communications from Ohio University, Donna Kelce became the first person in her family to graduate from college. But Donna chose not to pursue a career in communications. She went back to school for her masters and ended up in banking.
Ed Kelce said he was the oldest of two children and grew up in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland. After graduating from high school, he initially attended Ohio State University, but went home after about a “quarter and a half.” He said he took credits at two other schools and wound up with about a year of collegiate-level education under his belt.
At one point, he attempted to join the Marines to follow in the footsteps of generations of family members who served in the U.S. military. However, the Marines, nor the Army, would accept him due to a knee injury from high school football that still impacted him.
He began training with the Coast Guard, but explained to his sons on the podcast that he had to drop out because his Crohn’s disease was “acting up” for the first time in his life.
