Fans of thrillers are being urged to watch Netflix’s “fascinating” new film.
A Netflix thriller is climbing the UK Top 10 Chart and crime drama fans are keen to find out more about the story behind The Marked Woman.
The Spanish film, originally titled La desconocida, was released on June 5 following a limited theatrical run and it stars Ana Rujas, Candela Peña and Pol López.
Set in Barcelona and Algeciras, the film, which is just one of many Netflix thrillers, sees a security guard discover a woman inside a container at the Port of Barcelona.
She has no idea who she is and after she is taken to hospital, an attempt is made to kill her.
Police sergeant Anna Ripoll (Peña) and corporal Quique Zárate (López) take over the investigation and here is all you needs to know about the film.

The film begins with a young woman being found bound and gagged inside a shipping container.
When the two detectives assigned to her case realise she has no idea who she is or how she got there, they make it their mission to figure out her identity.
Netflix teased: “They have to unlock the secrets in her missing memories before her captors make another attempt on her life.”
At the heart of the series is detective Anna Ripoll, who after a forced leave of absence following a personal tragedy, returns to her job as a human trafficking investigator.
While doctors treat the mystery woman for amnesia, Ripoll puzzles over how to solve a case with almost no leads and is forced to partner with the “shady and frenetic” officer Quique Zárate.

Candela Peña, known for her roles in Take My Eyes and A Gun in Each Hand, stars as Anna Ripoll.
Spanish model turned actress Ana Rujas stars as the unidentified woman, with Heirs to the Land actor Pol López as Quique Zárate.
City of Shadows star Manolo Solo plays Andrés Falcó, and Money Heist actor Luka Peroš stars as Manuel Rojas Horvat.
Rounding off the main cast is Alpha Males actor Kira Miró as Lucía Melgar.

The film is based on the novel La desconocida, which was co-written by Spanish writer Rosa Montero and French writer Olivier Truc in 2023.
Montero told Netflix: “It was a fascinating, incredibly fun, and somewhat crazy project that gave our unknown character’s story an unusual intensity.
“I can’t wait to see how this formidable team has translated all that suspense into the film.”
