SIMON COWELL STOPPED HIM MID-SONG… AND EVERYONE THOUGHT HIS DREAM WAS OVER….For one tense moment on the Britain’s Got Talent stage, it looked like John Pierce’s audition had fallen apart. The nervous classical vocalist was asked to start again, leaving the theater in stunned silence as the pressure reached its peak. But instead of breaking, he took the second chance—and turned it into something nobody saw coming. When he returned with a breathtaking operatic interpretation of Radiohead’s “Creep,” the entire atmosphere changed. His haunting vocals, emotional depth, and extraordinary control transformed an awkward restart into a performance that left the audience frozen in disbelief. Even Simon Cowell’s unexpected decision became part of the story, as fans praised the moment that allowed a hidden talent to finally shine

Classical Singer John Pierce Leaves BGT Fans In Tears With Heart-Wrenching Radiohead Cover

Creep Cover by John Pierce on BGT 2025

If you’re even a casual fan of rock music, you have probably heard the Radiohead track ‘Creep’ before – but we guarantee you have never heard the song performed in the way that John Pierce delivered it on Britain’s Got Talent. He took the entire country by surprise when he performed an operatic cover version, belting out an incredible rendition that left me with goosebumps – and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for John at his BGT audition. He actually got off to a bit of a shaky start, with Simon Cowell stopping him partway through his performance to say “I think we should start this again.” Thank goodness he did, Music Man readers, because when John really got into his stride during his second rendition, he delivered a performance that some are arguing has bypassed all others that have ever been seen on the programme.

In fact, fans from all over the world have come together on YouTube and elsewhere online to celebrate John’s unexpected musical talents. Many people also praised Simon Cowell for his decision to stop John’s performance and give him a chance to start again, saying that “he is a good judge for sure, especially for music. He analyzes the talent and feels the vulnerability of being on a big stage and gives [you] another chance to be true to yourself.”

The nerves clearly got to John a bit during his Britain’s Got Talent audition, as evidenced by the slightly shaky start to his ‘Creep’ rendition. But previous videos of the singer performing live prove that he has the ability to deliver a stunning live performance every time he sings – including this one, which is taken from the long-running Welsh language television series Noson Lowen. John performs the world-renowned aria ‘Nessun Dorma’, and the live audience clearly love every moment.

I don’t know about you, Music Man readers, but I for one have a huge amount of respect for John and his musical talents. His version of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ is unlike any version of the song I have ever heard before, and I was unsurprised to see that he had made it through to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent on the basis of his performance. It will be interesting to see what John pulls out of the bag next, and indeed how far he progresses through the competition as a whole.
