According to a royal author, the disgraced former Duke of York’s relationship with his daughter is “particularly fractured and complex”
© Getty ImagesAndrew Mountbatten-Windsor became a grandfather again following the news that his daughter Princess Eugenie welcomed her third child last week. However, the disgraced former Duke of York is reportedly ‘unlikely’ to see his newborn granddaughter, a royal author has claimed.
After being stripped of his royal titles last year following renewed scrutiny over his links to convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew retreated from public life and has been living in exile on his brother King Charles’ Sandringham estate. Meanwhile, his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, have continued to lie low as they navigate the ongoing media scrutiny surrounding their father and mother, Sarah Ferguson.
“Relations with their father are particularly fractured and complex as daughters take on board each new disturbing disclosure about Andrew,” Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise And Fall Of The House Of York, alleged to the Daily Mail.
The royal author claims it is “unlikely Andrew will see his new grandchild except through FaceTime.”
He alleged Beatrice and Eugenie’s respective husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, “don’t want their reputations and earnings tainted by association with Andrew and Sarah and are pushing for their daughters to distance themselves from their parents.”
Andrew is a grandfather to Eugenie’s two sons, August, five, and Ernest, three, and Beatrice’s daughters Sienna, four, and Athena, one, as well as Beatrice’s stepson Christopher Woolf “Wolfie”, nine.
Newest member of the family
Eugenie and her husband Jack welcomed their third child, a daughter whose name has not been disclosed, on Monday 3 August in Lisbon, Portugal.
The birth was announced by Buckingham Palace on Tuesday in a statement. It read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.
“The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Eugenie shared a heartwarming first photo of her daughter on Instagram on 4 August. Her newborn girl was sleeping in an adorable pink onesie with angel wings on the back. “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie,” the royal gushed.
The baby’s grandmother, former Duchess of York Sarah, reportedly travelled to Portugal to support her daughter post-birth.
According to a new report by the Daily Mail, Sarah allegedly arrived in the quiet village of Melides, where Eugenie and her husband have made a home for themselves near Lisbon. The report suggested “there has been talk that Sarah” is back in town in order to help Eugenie following the arrival of her third child.
