Beauty In Black Is Back — And The First Five Minutes Already Have Netflix Fans Bracing For Chaos

Beauty in Black Season 3 Opens With The Bellarie Family In Freefall — And Horace’s Betrayal Changes Everything

Four professionally dressed people have a serious meeting in a modern office with large windows and city skyscraper views, seated around a large executive desk with paperwork and office supplies.

The Bellarie family spent two seasons fighting for money, influence and control. Now, as Beauty in Black returns for Season 3, several members of the powerful family are facing an entirely different problem: staying out of jail.

The opening minutes of Tyler Perry’s Netflix drama pick up immediately after the explosive Season 2 finale, with federal agents descending on the Bellarie offices and the family discovering that one of their own may have helped bring their empire crashing down.

And while Kimmie has finally reached the position she fought so hard to secure, she already suspects the battle is far from finished.

The FBI Raid Immediately Throws The Bellaries Into Chaos

Season 2 ended with the FBI raiding the Bellarie offices following a dramatic shift in the family’s power structure.

Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, had completed a remarkable transformation from dancer at Delinda’s Dolls and Dudes to Mrs. Bellarie. With Horace (Ricco Ross) supporting her, she secured a powerful position within the family empire and even formed an unlikely alliance with her former rival Mallory (Crystle Stewart).

But becoming powerful in the Bellarie family is one thing. Holding onto that power is another.

Season 3 wastes little time revealing the consequences of everything that came before.

Federal agents order everyone to their feet as arrests begin. Olivia (Debbi Morgan) points out that she is in a wheelchair — only for Norman to quickly inform the agents that she can, in fact, walk.

The situation becomes even more serious when the family learns what Horace has apparently done.

Horace’s Move Leaves Roy Stunned

Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield) tries to keep everyone under control, warning them to “be real quiet.”

Roy (Julian Horton), however, struggles to contain himself after learning that Horace has turned state’s evidence.

Jules makes the situation painfully clear to him: “Your father just set you up. And you walked right into it with your stupid ass.”

It is a brutal realization for a family accustomed to plotting against outsiders and one another. This time, Horace appears to have positioned himself several moves ahead of the relatives now being taken into custody.

For Kimmie, however, seeing her opponents arrested does not necessarily mean the game is over.

Rain Prepares To Take Over Delinda’s

Away from the arrests, another power shift is happening at Horace’s estate.

Rain (Amber Reign Smith) is preparing to take control of Delinda’s Dolls and Dudes, the club where she and Kimmie once worked as dancers.

Angel (Xavier Smalls) is considerably less enthusiastic about the place, dismissing it as a “raggedy ass club” and insisting that he has no intention of returning.

Rain is not convinced.

She jokes that she will keep the stage ready for him in case his complicated relationship with Horace falls apart and he eventually finds himself dancing again.

Their exchange provides some humor amid the Bellaries’ legal disaster, but it also shows just how much has changed. Kimmie and Rain once worked inside Delinda’s; now, both women are entering completely different positions of power.

Kimmie Knows The Bellaries May Still Fight Back

Back at the Bellarie offices, Kimmie joins Horace, Mallory and Varney (Terrell Carter) as they assess the outcome of the elaborate game they have played against the rest of the family.

On paper, everything appears to have worked.

Their rivals are facing arrest, Horace has made his move and Kimmie is sitting in a position that would once have seemed almost impossible for her to reach.

Yet she is reluctant to celebrate.

Kimmie questions whether the Bellaries could somehow find a way out of jail, recognizing that defeating this family is rarely as straightforward as it appears.

Horace offers an appropriately cautious response: “You can never be too sure.”

That uncertainty sets up the next stage of the story. Kimmie may have climbed from the bottom of the Bellarie world to the top, but Season 3 begins by making one thing clear: reaching the throne does not mean she is safe.

With arrests, betrayals, shifting alliances and unfinished family grudges already in motion, the Bellaries’ latest crisis could simply become the beginning of another battle for control.

Beauty in Black Season 3 premieres Aug. 27 on Netflix.
