Respect? Oh, Myles Garrett’s got plenty of that from Chris Jones. But all bets are off when the whistle blows in the next game. It’s the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Cleveland Browns around the corner and we can’t take more off of it. The way both the teams are performing, it’s safe to say that the Chiefs shouldn’t have any trouble when they face the Browns this Sunday.
However, Jones has major concerns over the Browns’ defensive end and one might feel it funny. But truth be told, his concerns are pretty legitimate. “I hope he has no success against us, and that continues through four quarters,” the Chiefs’ defensive tackle said after stating that he has a lot of respect for Garrett.
Four quarters? That’s something challenging Jones has asked for, right? Now, if we’re talking about Garrett here, the guy’s been a beast this season. So far, he’s racked up 35 total tackles, with 29 solo tackles and 11 sacks. And the double-digit sacks with three against the Steelers in week 12 only. I mean, that kind of pressure on a QB can turn the entire dynamic of the game upside down.
No wonder Jones respects him. But we get it! If the Browns are coming with such defense, no matter what the table says, Jones and the Chiefs don’t want them to have a great time. As it appears, despite their difference, the Browns may ask tough questions to the Patrick Mahomes‘ Chiefs.
Although the Chiefs have had some close games this season, the defending champions are still showcasing their dominance as the AFC West topper. Honestly, Garrett would take it as a challenge when the Browns will face them on December 15.
How well Chris Jones has been this season?
Talking about the Chiefs’ defense, DT Jones had an impeccable season so far. He started all games as of now and totaled 32 tackles, with 18 of those being solo, and adding 5 sacks to the mix. Let’s say he’s been a key factor in the Chiefs’ defensive line with the support from the likes of Nick Bolton and George Karlaftis.
Fast forward to the O-line, which has been a point of concern for the team, continues to struggle with protecting Mahomes and establishing the running game. Not to forget, that left Kelce frustrated with the lack of offensive consistency. On the flip side, the Chiefs’ defense has been the standout, keeping them in games with strong performances, particularly from Jones and their pass rush.
As far as the Browns are concerned, their standings pretty much explain when we talk about their offensive performance this season. Well, a couple of reasons may include Deshaun Watson’s struggles throughout the season and an injury of the tight end, David Njoku is an add-on. Well, the Chiefs are the favorites for the Sunday night face-off. It’ll be exciting to see what the Browns bring to the table.
