Guy Ritchie’s Addictive 8-Part Mystery Thriller Has ‘Zero Boring Episodes’ — And Season 2 Is Already on the Way

A fast-paced mystery thriller from The Gentlemen creator Guy Ritchie is winning praise from viewers, with some describing it as one of the most entertaining series available on Prime Video.
Young Sherlock, which premiered in March 2026, reimagines the early life of literature’s most famous detective, long before he became the brilliant investigator known around the world.
With eight episodes, an impressive cast and a second season already confirmed, the series has become a popular recommendation for viewers looking for a weekend binge.
A Young Sherlock Holmes Faces His First Major Mystery
Based on Andy Lane’s novels and inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories, Young Sherlock introduces a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes who has yet to develop his legendary reputation.

Played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the young detective becomes entangled in a murder mystery at Oxford University.
His unlikely companion is James Moriarty, portrayed by Dónal Finn, who will eventually become one of Holmes’ greatest enemies.
Their early friendship adds an intriguing dimension to the familiar Sherlock Holmes mythology, exploring the relationship between two characters destined for a very different future.
The supporting cast includes Zine Tseng as Xiao Wei, Joseph Fiennes as Sherlock’s father Silas and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Guy Ritchie Brings His Signature Style to Prime Video
Ritchie developed the series and directed its first two episodes, bringing his experience with crime thrillers and fast-moving storytelling to the project.
The filmmaker previously directed Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Netflix’s The Gentlemen.
He also directed the 2009 and 2011 Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
For Young Sherlock, filming took place in Bristol, Cardiff and Spain, helping recreate the period setting and the world surrounding the young detective.
Viewers Call It an Addictive Weekend Binge
The series has received positive reviews, holding an 84% critics’ score and an 83% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Entertainment commentator Anubhuti Navin, who shares streaming recommendations through The Watchlist Club, described it as an absolute gem and praised its consistently entertaining episodes.
Other viewers highlighted the chemistry between Fiennes Tiffin and Finn, alongside the show’s energetic pacing and central mystery.
Not every response has been enthusiastic, however. Some viewers criticized the dark cinematography and questioned aspects of the production.
Nevertheless, the combination of mystery, action and familiar characters has helped the series attract considerable attention.
Young Sherlock Season 2 Is Already Confirmed
Prime Video renewed Young Sherlock for a second season in April 2026, shortly after its debut.
Filming has since been spotted in Bristol and Italy, with several notable actors joining the cast.
New additions include Game of Thrones stars Aidan Gillen and Indira Varma, alongside Olivia Williams from The Crown and Sophie Skelton from Outlander.
The second season is expected to arrive in 2027, although an official premiere date has not been announced.
All eight episodes of the first season are currently available on Prime Video.
For viewers who enjoy clever mysteries, energetic storytelling and unexpected character relationships, Young Sherlock offers an eight-part adventure with plenty more to come.
