They Planned To Watch One Episode… Then Suddenly It Was 2AM. Netflix’s ‘Addictive’ Thr*ller Is Destroying Bedtimes, With Viewers Praising Its ‘Best Plot Twists’ And Admitting They Couldn’t Stop Until The Truth Came Out

A six-episode Netflix mystery thriller is proving dangerously easy to binge, with some viewers admitting they started watching and simply couldn’t bring themselves to stop.

One fan burned through the entire series in a single sitting because they “couldn’t go to bed without finishing it,” while another squeezed three episodes in before work — then immediately watched the remaining three afterwards.

The reason appears to be a combination of a murder mystery, two estranged spouses investigating the same crime and a story deliberately constructed around one uncomfortable idea: someone is lying.

Starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, His & Hers has been drawing particularly enthusiastic reactions from viewers who say its twists kept them questioning what they thought they knew until the end.

A murder drags Anna back into the life she abandoned

Based on British author Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name, His & Hers arrived on Netflix in January 2026.

The American mystery thriller runs for just six episodes and features a cast including Thompson, Bernthal, Pablo Schreiber, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Sunita Mani.

At the center of the story is Anna, a former news anchor who has retreated from her career, friendships and much of her previous life.

She is living in isolation when news of a murder suddenly pulls her attention toward Dahlonega, the small Georgia town where she grew up.

For Anna, the case is impossible to ignore.

She returns home and begins investigating.

But going back also means confronting a place filled with memories, relationships and history she had left behind.

Anna starts looking for answers of her own

Anna may no longer be working as a news anchor, but her journalistic instincts have not disappeared.

Once she arrives in Dahlonega, she begins digging into the murder and becomes increasingly convinced that there is more to the case than initially appears.

Years of silence and partially forgotten history begin complicating the search for the truth.

But Anna is not the only person investigating.

Detective Jack Harper has been assigned to the same murder.

And Jack happens to be Anna’s estranged husband.

That immediately transforms the investigation into something far more personal.

Her estranged husband begins suspecting her

Instead of simply working alongside Anna, Jack becomes suspicious of why she is so deeply involved in the case.

As Anna searches for answers, Jack’s own investigation begins pulling her closer to its center.

The result is a mystery told through competing perspectives where neither side necessarily possesses the complete truth.

Netflix’s synopsis sums up the central idea with a warning:

“There are two sides to every story: HIS & HERS, which means someone is always lying.”

That premise gives the six episodes their central tension.

Viewers are not simply being asked to identify a killer.

They also have to decide who they can actually trust.

Viewers say it becomes difficult to stop watching

His & Hers Review: Netflix Mystery Takes Itself Too Seriously

Since its release, the thriller has attracted enthusiastic reactions from viewers praising both its central performances and its ability to keep changing their assumptions.

One IMDb reviewer said they became hooked almost immediately.

“Wow! I am so glad I watched this series,” they wrote. “I enjoyed it so much from the first episode that I binge watched it.”

They particularly praised Bernthal and Thompson, describing their performances as “superb.”

Without revealing what happens, the viewer added that the storyline was “absolutely brilliant” and urged others to watch it.

One fan watched three episodes before work — and three after

The compact six-part format also appears to be helping turn His & Hers into an easy binge.

Another viewer described the series as “addictive” and loved that it did not stretch the mystery across a much longer season.

They managed to watch half the series before going to work.

Then they came home and finished it.

“Beauty at six episodes,” the reviewer wrote. “Binged it, three episodes before work and three after.”

They also praised Thompson and Bernthal as the show’s leads.

For anyone tired of mysteries that demand a commitment of eight, ten or even more episodes, that relatively short runtime may be part of the appeal.

The twists are getting some of the biggest reactions

Other viewers have singled out the way the mystery keeps shifting.

One particularly enthusiastic reviewer called them the “best plot twists I’ve ever seen.”

They said the story kept their attention while making them feel as though they were participating in the investigation themselves — constantly trying to work out what was happening alongside the characters.

And then came the admission that perhaps best demonstrates how effectively the series hooked them.

“I watched this in one sitting, couldn’t go to bed without finishing it.”

Their final verdict was a perfect “10/10.”

The setup makes almost everyone worth questioning

The appeal of His & Hers lies in how quickly a relatively straightforward murder investigation becomes tangled in personal history.

Anna has returned to the town where she grew up.

Jack knows her intimately but no longer necessarily trusts her.

Both are pursuing the truth from different positions.

And the series repeatedly reminds viewers that hearing one version of events does not necessarily mean they have heard the whole story.

That makes it the kind of mystery where trying to solve the case becomes part of the viewing experience.

Every new detail can change how an earlier scene looks.

Every character’s motivation becomes worth reconsidering.

And with only six episodes separating the opening mystery from its conclusion, pressing “next episode” becomes particularly tempting.

A compact mystery built for a weekend binge

There is no shortage of murder mysteries on streaming platforms, but His & Hers has one obvious advantage for viewers searching for something they can finish quickly.

There are only six episodes.

The story does not require several seasons of investment, and the central mystery begins immediately.

Add Thompson and Bernthal as two estranged spouses approaching the same murder from very different directions, and the series has all the ingredients of a classic “just one more episode” binge.

Judging by the viewers who finished the whole thing in a day — or sacrificed bedtime to reach the end — “just one more” may be considerably easier said than done.

All six episodes of His & Hers are available to stream on Netflix.
