Keeley Hawes Returns as Deadly Assassin Julie in The Assassin Season 2
Keeley Hawes is stepping back into the dangerous world of international crime as Julie, the former assassin at the heart of Prime Video’s thriller The Assassin. The newly released trailer for season two promises explosive action, new enemies and another turbulent chapter in Julie’s complicated relationship with her son, Edward, played by Freddie Highmore.
When Edward’s honeymoon takes a devastating turn and his wife, Kayla, is kidnapped, the estranged mother and son are forced to work together again. With Julie returning to her lethal old ways, their mission will test both their survival skills and an already fragile family bond.
The six-part second season premieres on 6 November 2026 on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland, with all episodes arriving on launch day.

A Dangerous Reunion for Julie and Edward
The first season ended with Edward confronting a life-changing truth: Julie is not his biological mother, and his real father is Jean-Luc, a French arms dealer. That revelation left their relationship on uncertain ground, setting the stage for another emotionally charged reunion.
According to the season two synopsis, the pair have grown estranged again following a disastrous trip to Berlin and a mysterious falling-out neither is prepared to discuss.
Their distance becomes harder to maintain when Kayla is abducted during her honeymoon with Edward. Julie and her son must put their differences aside and enter Spain’s criminal underworld, where the dangers extend far beyond the immediate rescue mission.

The trailer captures the tension between them as Edward insists he does not need his mother to fight his battles. Julie’s sharp response makes clear that, whatever their differences, she is not about to stand by while he faces danger alone.
Their challenge is twofold: survive the mission and repair a relationship that has already endured painful revelations. The official synopsis also hints that the pair may struggle to avoid turning their frustrations on each other before they can confront their enemies.

Hawes reprises her role as Julie, the skilled assassin whose past continues to shape her present. Highmore returns as Edward, while Shalom Brune-Franklin is back as Kayla and Devon Terrell reprises his role as Ezra, Kayla’s unpredictable, power-driven brother.

Other newcomers include Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Riot Women), Boris Van Severen (Baptiste, Moresnet), Jacqueline Boatswain (Bridgerton, After the Flood) and Monic Hendrickx (Penoza, Arcadia).
