I returned early from a highly successful business trip to Salt Lake City to my home in Scottsdale and walked into an absolutely heartbreaking scene. My elderly father Norman was on his hands and knees frantically scrubbing spilled stew from my polished hardwood floor while my mother in law Susan and sister in law Heather watched lazily from the sofa. They were eating expensive fruit and cruelly mocking him for bringing rustic farm goods into my luxury home while he trembled with obvious humiliation. I dropped my luggage in complete shock and immediately demanded to know why my husband Kyle was not there to help and why they were treating the hard working man who raised me like a common servant.

My father frantically pulled me into a quiet guest room and revealed a devastating secret that made my blood run cold. He explained that Kyle had called him a week earlier with an elaborate lie about me facing federal prison time for corporate fraud. Kyle manipulated my terrified father into signing over the deed to his beloved Nebraska farm to pay for fake  legal fees. My husband used that stolen property to secure a three million dollar loan which he planned to collect that very afternoon. Realizing my husband had weaponized a deep  family bond to steal these life  savings I immediately formulated a plan to recover the property without alerting Kyle to my discovery.

I called Kyle on the phone pretending everything was perfectly fine and offered him a fake insider tip about a confidential land development project in rural Idaho. I told him my college friend Rachel was selling five remote lots that would soon triple in value and he immediately rushed to her office to buy them using the money he stole from my father. Driven by pure greed Kyle then convinced his own mother and sister to sell their historic family home to purchase the remaining parcels of useless land. They happily sacrificed their own generational legacy thinking they were about to become incredibly wealthy and permanently financially independent from my demanding career earnings.

Once all the real estate transactions were completely finalized and the stolen funds were safely recovered through Rachel I confronted my husband and his family. I explained that Kyle now owned completely worthless land and presented the legal documents required to buy back the Nebraska farm for my father. I filed for divorce the very next morning and evicted Kyle along with his mother and sister from my house leaving them entirely ruined by their own selfish choices.
