They Turned The Monarchy Into A Circus—Harry And Meghan Face A Brutal New Attack Over Their Reunion With King Charles, As A Royal Author Claims The Sussex Spectacle Overshadowed The King’s Far More Important Role. Their Highgrove meeting was meant to remain private, yet weeks of speculation over whether the couple and their children would even see Charles transformed the reunion into a headline frenzy. Now Robert Jobson has delivered a scathing verdict, arguing that the endless drama reduced serious royal matters to little more than whether Harry and Meghan were “coming for tea”—and claiming the attention ultimately worked to the Sussexes’ benefit.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of turning their reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla last month into a “circus”. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alongside their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, went to Highgrove on July 10 to reunite with Their Majesties.

While the meeting was kept private, the build-up and rumours about whether it would take place have been criticised by royal author Robert Jobson. This is because it happened at around the same time as lots of political upheaval in the UK Government, including Andy Burnham’s bid to become Prime Minister. Mr Jobson argued this is what King Charles’ should have been in the news for – not whether Harry and Meghan were “coming for tea”.

Speaking on Royally Unfiltered to host Kinsey Schofield, Jobson said: “It made it all so trivial. It’s (the monarch) a very important political and powerful role, and it’s just been turned into a circus by Harry and Meghan, and for their own benefit.”
