Prepare yourself, gentle reader, for the Bridgerton showrunner has revealed which title siblings are next in line to find true love. At the Season 4 premiere, which took place at Paris’ historic Palais Brongniart, showrunner Jess Brownell revealed that Eloise and Francesca will take center stage in Seasons 5 and 6. As for which sister will experience her season of love first, Brownell was not as forthcoming. “I would say both characters with the initials on my pocket square will get seasons in five and six,” she told Deadline at the event, referencing her white pocket square with the initials E and F embroidered on it. “In what order? I can’t say.”

This comes one season after viewers met a fresh-faced Francesca in the form of Hannah Dodd, who replaced former Francesca actress Ruby Stokes in Season 3. Dodd’s timid Francesca featured heavily in Bridgerton’s third outing, ultimately meeting the equally introverted Lord John Stirling and marrying him despite her mother failing to see a romantic spark between them. The end of the season found them bound for Scotland, but before leaving, Lord Stirling introduced Francesca to his cousin, Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), who appeared to instantly give Francesca butterflies. This introduction deviated heavily from author Julia Quinn’s books, which saw Francesca marry John only to fall for his male cousin, Michael. Francesca’s notable reaction to Michaela could hint at an unexpected queer romance, much like the one that played out between Brimsley and Reynolds in Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte. One can only wonder what Lady Whistledown would have to say about that.

With Francesca married and the seed of her potentially complicated future already planted, it would make sense if her love story unfolded before Eloise’s. The latter has been single for three seasons running and, given her rebellious nature, it’s likely that she’ll make every attempt to keep it that way as long as possible. That said, Brownell’s coy masking of the truth means anything is possible, so fans will just have to wait and see how things play out across Season 4’s eight episodes.

Continuing its trend of focusing on one sibling’s steamy love life per season, Bridgerton’s fourth go-around will center around Benedict (Luke Thompson), but with a Cinderella twist. At his mother’s masquerade ball, he meets a mysterious woman – dubbed the “Lady in Silver” – and becomes captivated by her after the two share a dance. In true Cinderella fashion, the lady is not a lady at all, but a maid who isn’t supposed to be at the ball to begin with. She even leaves a single glove behind when she scurries away at midnight, sparking Benedict’s desire to return the glove to its owner. Halo’s Yerin Ha makes her Bridgerton debut as Sophie Baek, the intriguing maid Benedict later meets and fails to recognize as the Lady in Silver.

Like its prior season, Bridgerton Season 4 will release in two parts, with Part 1 premiering on Jan. 29 and Part 2 coming nearly a month later on Feb. 26. As one of Netflix’s greatest successes, it’s no surprise that the family drama has already been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6. Quinn’s Bridgerton book series consists of eight novels, and with the Netflix adaptation largely staying truthful to the source material, it would only make sense if announcements for Seasons 7 and 8 quickly follow Season 4’s release.
