Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson star in the latest trailer for Verity, which is based on Colleen Hoover’s thriller book of the same name.

The film stars Hathaway, 43, as Verity Crawford, a writer who has become paralysed and employs struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh to finish her successful book series. While staying at Verity’s secluded home with her husband (Josh Hartnett) to write, she discovers Verity’s horrifying autobiography detailing abuse.

Fans were delighted with this latest instalment with many noting that this marks Anne’s fifth major film of the year. In 2026 the star has appeared in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, The End of Oak Street, and now will finish the year on a high with the thriller film Verity.

“Hollywood seems to have one actress only nowadays, that’s Anne Hathaway,” one fans commented when the trailer was released. “Anne Hathaway makes Pedro Pascal seem barely working,” joked another.

“We got Anne Hathaway on the big screen all year round and I’m here for it,” said yet another commenter. “Anne Hathaway is on an insane generational run this year. What a booked and amazing actress,” said a fan. “This truly is Anne Hathaway’s year and I’m so supporting every single one of it!” added another.

Hathaway has referenced the fact that she has had a busy year with five releases in the space of 12 months. She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Well, when I got my schedule for this year from all the wonderful film studios that I’ve worked with, and I saw it, I kind of thought I was being punked.

“But then they showed me that no, no, no, all of these dates were going to hold, and I just said, ‘as long as audiences don’t get sick of my face, which I wouldn’t blame them, I would not blame them if they did. Let’s go.’

“I think it’s fun. I love, I love. I mean, obviously, I love making movies. I can’t take a look, but but I also love that audiences want to go see original things,” she said.

Fans of the book were also delighted to find that the film adaptation opted to lean into the darker nature of the book, picking up some of the darker plot points of the story.

“I like that they leaned into the horror side of this book. I’m freaking SAT! said one fan on the comment section of YouTube.

“THEY DID THE HEAD TURNNNNN,” read another popular comment on YouTube. “It’s almost exactly how I pictured it in the book. Looking forward to seeing more.” said another.

Verity is released in cinemas on October 2.
