Meghan Markle Eyes Major Acting Comeback in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen as UK Return Fuels Fresh Speculation
Meghan Markle could be preparing for one of the most significant professional moves of her post-royal life, with multiple reports saying the Duchess of Sussex has held discussions about joining Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series The Gentlemen.
The development comes at a particularly striking moment. Meghan and Prince Harry are preparing to return to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet after spending the past six years based in California. Now, the former Suits actress is being linked with a British production that could put her firmly back in front of the camera.
However, despite headlines suggesting Meghan has already joined the cast, the situation is considerably less certain. Deadline reported that conversations have taken place over a possible role in a third season, but stressed that they remain preliminary. Netflix has not officially renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3, no character has yet been identified for Meghan and no deal is currently in place.
Meghan linked with Theo James-led Netflix hit

Created by Guy Ritchie and inspired by his 2019 film of the same name, The Gentlemen stars Theo James as Eddie Horniman, an aristocrat who unexpectedly inherits his family estate and discovers that it is connected to a sprawling criminal operation.
The first season arrived in 2024, while Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on September 3, 2026. Although Netflix has yet to announce another renewal, discussions surrounding Meghan reportedly concern a potential third season. Variety also reports that the talks remain at an early stage, with no contract signed.
If the discussions ultimately lead to a deal, it would represent a striking new chapter for Meghan, whose acting career was largely put aside when her relationship with Prince Harry became increasingly serious.
From Suits to royal life
Long before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan was best known for playing Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits. She also accumulated film and television credits before leaving the series as she prepared for her marriage to Harry in 2018.
Meghan subsequently stepped away from traditional acting, although she remained involved in television through projects including the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan and lifestyle programming.
In a 2022 interview with Variety, Meghan indicated that she considered her acting career finished, while leaving a small amount of room for circumstances to change.
That makes the latest reports particularly notable. A return through a major Guy Ritchie production would be very different from simply appearing on screen as herself — it could signal a genuine return to scripted acting.
Reuters reported that Meghan is being discussed for the series but noted that neither Netflix nor representatives for Harry and Meghan offered confirmation.
Why the timing is attracting attention

The reports have emerged alongside news that Harry and Meghan are preparing to relocate to Britain with Archie and Lilibet.
That coincidence has inevitably fuelled speculation about whether Meghan’s professional plans could become part of the couple’s next chapter in the UK. The Gentlemen is a British production, making the possibility particularly intriguing as the Sussexes re-establish a base on Harry’s home soil.
Still, there is currently no confirmed evidence that the potential acting opportunity is the reason behind their move. Reports should therefore be treated separately until either Meghan’s representatives, Netflix or the production provides further details.
The couple’s return to Britain itself marks a dramatic reversal after six years in the United States. Deadline reported separately that the Sussex family is heading back to the UK while maintaining its relationship with Netflix.
Could Meghan really return to acting?

Speculation about Meghan stepping back into acting has persisted for years, but the latest reports are more concrete than many previous rumours because several major entertainment publications have independently reported discussions surrounding The Gentlemen.
CNN similarly reported that a person familiar with the situation confirmed talks are underway, while emphasizing that there is currently no deal and that Season 3 itself has not received an official green light.
For now, then, Meghan has not officially joined The Gentlemen.
But the possibility is significant: just as she prepares to begin another chapter in Britain with Harry and their children, the role that first made Meghan famous — actress — could unexpectedly become part of her life once again.
