Only Murders In The Building Season 6: Everything We Know About The New London Mystery
After five hugely entertaining seasons, Only Murders In The Building is about to enter a very different chapter — and fans have plenty of reasons to be excited.
The beloved Hulu murder mystery is returning for a sixth season, but this time Charles, Oliver and Mabel are leaving the familiar surroundings of New York behind. The new season is being filmed in London, bringing the amateur detective trio into an entirely new setting filled with fresh suspects, secrets and unexpected faces.

And the cast alone may make Season 6 one of the show’s most ambitious chapters yet.
Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short are all returning as Mabel Mora, Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam. But surrounding them is an extraordinary collection of British talent, including Olivia Colman, David Tennant, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, Nicola Coughlan, Jennifer Saunders, Jim Broadbent, Richard Ayoade and Simone Ashley.
Meryl Streep is also expected to return after becoming an important part of the series in Season 5.
Why Is Season 6 Moving To London?
The decision to move the action across the Atlantic comes directly after the dramatic events of Season 5.
The season finale ended with the suspicious death of Cinda Canning, leaving behind another mystery for the trio to investigate. The episode also featured a new Cinda Canning podcast connected to London, providing a possible clue about why Charles, Oliver and Mabel will find themselves in Britain.
The change of location could give the series a completely different atmosphere.
Instead of the familiar halls of the Arconia, the trio will now be navigating London — a city with its own long history of mysteries, eccentric characters and classic detective stories.
It is also the perfect place for Only Murders In The Building to embrace its cosy-crime roots.
Olivia Colman Joins The Mystery

One of the biggest additions to the cast is Oscar winner Olivia Colman.
Colman will reportedly play a writer, with series creator John Hoffman revealing that her character is connected to the show’s fascination with the classic British murder-mystery tradition.
Her arrival was announced in typically playful Only Murders fashion, with Gomez, Streep and Short appearing together before Colman suddenly joined them.
And she isn’t the only major British star joining the investigation.
Doctor Who veterans David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Peter Capaldi are all part of the upcoming season, creating an especially impressive reunion of actors from the long-running sci-fi series.
Nicola Coughlan, Jennifer Saunders, Jim Broadbent and Richard Ayoade are also among the new additions.
Jennifer Saunders’ Character Has A Very Stylish Connection
Jennifer Saunders will reportedly play a character inspired partly by legendary British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
According to Hoffman, the character will be connected to London’s fashion world, adding yet another colourful corner to the show’s expanding universe.
It sounds like Season 6 won’t simply transplant the existing formula to another country. Instead, London appears to be becoming an important part of the story itself.

With the production now based in Britain, fans have already begun wondering which famous faces could potentially turn up next.
When Is Season 6 Coming?
The sixth season will consist of 10 episodes, continuing the format used by previous seasons.
Filming began in London in 2026, and the first-look images have already shown Gomez, Martin and Short back in character in the British capital.
Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on December 8 on Disney+.
For fans who have followed Charles, Oliver and Mabel through five seasons of murders, suspects and increasingly ridiculous investigations, the move to London promises something completely new.
A different city. An extraordinary new cast. A suspicious death waiting to be investigated.
And with so many familiar faces joining the mystery, the biggest question may be who can actually be trusted when the next murder happens?
