Shaun Wallace is usually one of the most formidable figures on The Chase, but one celebrity edition left viewers surprised when the Dark Destroyer struggled to find the right answers.

The unusual moment came during a repeat of a Coronation Street celebrity special aired on ITV on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Bradley Walsh was joined by Coronation Street stars Simon Gregson, Lucy Fallon, Andy Whyment and Victoria Ekanoye, who were competing to raise money for their chosen charities.

Wallace was the Chaser that evening, but his performance against Victoria Ekanoye in particular quickly became a talking point among viewers.

The turnaround even earned Wallace a standing ovation from the studio audience a few questions later.

It was an unusual sight for The Chase, given that the standing ovation came after Wallace had finally found his rhythm following a string of difficult questions.

Wallace eventually caught the players with eight seconds remaining, bringing the game to an end.
