This Kid Came To Sing Country Music, Not Stand Around Quietly… Tracy Lawrence Invites 12-Year-Old Blake Onstage For Joe Diffie’s Pickup Man, Only To Find Himself Sharing The Spotlight With A Young Cowboy Who Knows Exactly How To Work A Crowd!

Tracy Lawrence Brings Young Fan Blake Onstage for Joe Diffie’s “Pickup Man,” But the 12-Year-Old Steals the Show by Calling Out the Crowd

Tracy Lawrence has shared the stage with plenty of talented performers over the years, but a young fan named Blake gave him a memorable moment during a recent concert in Pennsylvania. Armed with an impressive knowledge of classic country music, confident dance moves, and plenty of attitude, the youngster quickly won over the audience. He even challenged the crowd to get out of their seats and sing along when he felt they weren’t bringing enough energy.

The moment took place on Thursday, October 15, during Lawrence’s stop in Erie, Pennsylvania, as part of his 2026 No Alibis Tour. The country star invited Blake, a young fan sporting a classic mullet and an unmistakable country style, onto the stage at the Warner Theatre to perform Joe Diffie’s beloved hit, “Pickup Man.”

Lawrence, known for his hit “Paint Me a Birmingham” and his work as a podcast host, has long supported both emerging country artists and the traditional sounds that helped shape the genre. His decision to bring Blake onstage offered a particularly entertaining example of that passion.

Blake Takes Charge From the Moment He Steps Onstage

For someone so young, Blake showed remarkable confidence in front of a room filled with thousands of concertgoers.

Before the performance even got going, he shook Lawrence’s hand with a firm grip and turned his attention to the audience, urging everyone to get involved.

“C’mon, let’s get rowdy up in here tonight, put your drinks in the air,” he told the crowd.

Blake then took the lead on Diffie’s 1994 hit, delivering the song with an enthusiasm that matched the spirit of its original performer. He moved confidently from one side of the stage to the other, showing off his dance moves while singing along to the familiar lyrics.

His performance had the kind of uninhibited energy often seen at a lively karaoke night, except Blake was doing it in front of thousands of people at a concert.

Lawrence appeared delighted by what he was witnessing. Laughing as the youngster commanded the stage, the veteran singer gave him room to enjoy the spotlight rather than trying to take over the performance himself.

The Young Fan Has a Message for the Audience

Blake’s confidence became even more apparent after the first chorus.

Apparently deciding that the audience wasn’t participating enough, he turned his attention away from the song and directly addressed the concertgoers.

“Any of you guys know the words to this song? Sing along, c’mon, come on stand up, people.”

The playful demand from a 12-year-old was one of the standout moments of the performance. Rather than simply singing the song and enjoying his opportunity onstage, Blake wanted the entire venue to join in.

He also demonstrated a natural understanding of how to work a crowd, pointing the microphone toward the audience to encourage them to sing along.

Lawrence eventually joined Blake for the second half of the performance, sharing the stage with the young fan as they continued the country classic together.

For the veteran singer, it was an opportunity to watch a young admirer embrace the music with the kind of enthusiasm that has kept traditional country songs alive across generations.

Social Media Can’t Get Enough of Blake

Following the performance, Blake expressed his gratitude to Lawrence for inviting him onstage. He also shared his appreciation in the comments beneath the TikTok video that captured the moment.

The youngster posted the performance on his own social media page as well, where he received plenty of encouragement from viewers impressed by his personality and musical enthusiasm.

Many commenters joked about Blake’s unmistakably old soul, with his love for classic country music and his confident stage presence making him stand out.

His appearance offered a reminder that songs from country music’s past continue to find new fans, even among listeners who were born long after the original recordings were released.

And while Lawrence may have been the established star on the bill, Blake certainly made the most of his time in the spotlight.

It is easy to see why viewers were so entertained by the youngster. He knew the song, looked comfortable performing it, and wasn’t afraid to tell an entire concert audience to raise its energy when he thought the moment called for it.

If Blake continues to develop his musical interests and stage confidence, fans will be eager to see what he does next.

Tracy Lawrence’s 2026 Tour Continues

Meanwhile, Lawrence is nearing the end of his 2026 touring schedule. Following his Pennsylvania performance, the singer has three more shows scheduled for the year, with appearances planned in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana over the following weekend.

The concert with Blake offered another memorable moment from the tour, with the young fan’s performance of Joe Diffie’s “Pickup Man” giving the audience something unexpected to remember.

For a few minutes at the Warner Theatre, a 12-year-old with a mullet, a love for classic country, and a fearless attitude took center stage. And judging by the reaction online, he made quite an impression.
