Anthony Mackie’s New Heist Thriller 12 12 12 Unveils First Look — And Its 12-Day Rule Could Change Everything

Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan are going head-to-head in a new Apple TV heist thriller where every stage of the perfect robbery is governed by one chilling rule — and the first look suggests this cat-and-mouse game could be seriously tense.

12 12 12 has released its first-look teaser, introducing Mackie as a disgraced FBI agent and Dornan as a career criminal locked in an increasingly dangerous battle across Europe.

A Heist Built Around the Number 12

The teaser immediately establishes the unusual formula behind the series.

Mackie’s character explains that a professionally planned high-value robbery takes 12 months to prepare and 12 hours to execute.

Dornan’s character then completes the thought:

“Is not caught at all.”

That central idea gives the series its distinctive hook. Rather than focusing solely on the robbery itself, 12 12 12 will explore the different stages surrounding an elaborate heist — from its preparation to its execution and the consequences that follow.

Apple TV has described the series as a “thrilling” and “highly anticipated” drama, with the story unfolding as an intense game of cat and mouse.

Mackie and Dornan Face Off Across Europe

At the heart of the series are Mackie and Dornan, who also serve as executive producers.

Their characters become locked in a zero-sum game of cat and mouse across Europe, eventually converging on an audacious target: a bank vault buried deep beneath the streets of Zurich.

The Zurich robbery forms the centrepiece of the story, promising a crime operation on an unusually ambitious scale.

The newly released stills also offer an early glimpse at Mackie and Dornan in character, giving viewers their first sense of the tense world the series is building.

A Strong Supporting Cast

The series expands well beyond its two leading stars, bringing together a cast featuring performers from several major film and television projects.

Kali Reis, known for True Detective, joins the cast alongside Jack Kesy of Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Agathe Rousselle from Titane, Sallie Harmsen of Blade Runner 2049 and José Garcia, known for Now You See Me.

The series was created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, who also serve as executive producers.

When Will 12 12 12 Be Released?

12 12 12 will premiere on Friday, November 13, with its first two episodes arriving together.

New episodes will then be released weekly, with the season scheduled to continue through Christmas Day.

That gives the series a particularly unusual run, beginning in November and reaching its finale on December 25.

Anthony Mackie’s Busy End to 2026

The series arrives during an especially busy period for Mackie.

Later in December, the actor is also expected to return as Captain America/Sam Wilson in Avengers: Doomsday.

Mackie recently recalled the reaction of his Avengers co-star Sir Ian McKellen when McKellen learned that Mackie would take on the Captain America role.

According to Mackie, McKellen responded: “Wonderful… and you deserve that.”

For now, however, Mackie is trading the superhero suit for a very different kind of high-stakes battle.

In 12 12 12, there are no superpowers — just an elaborate robbery, a determined FBI agent, a career criminal and a race against the clock.

And if the show’s central rule is anything to go by, once those crucial 12 days have passed, catching the robber may already be too late.
