The 1% Club word sequence wipes out 21 players – but can YOU solve it?
A difficult word sequence on The 1% Club eliminated a whopping 21 players – but could you solve it within 30 seconds?
Lee Mack hosts the hit ITV quiz show which challenges 100 contestants’ logic and common sense rather than general knowledge.
A survey of 100 people answer the same questions before the show – with difficulty level decided by how many got each one correct.
Lee was surprised after a 70% question – which should be relatively easy – knocked out nearly a quarter of the players.
The players had 30 seconds to identify which word replaced a question mark shown within a sequence – Hot, Hard, Small, Cold, Easy?
Meanwhile, there were three possible answers – A) Big, B) Fast or C) Slow.
This word sequence question on The 1% Club stumped several contestants – but could you solve it?
It saw a whopping 21 people wiped out of the game – nearly a quarter of the starting group of 100
Lee Mack (pictured), who hosts the hit quiz show, expressed surprise by the high number of eliminations on this question
After it was revealed 21 people got it wrong, Lee remarked: ‘Wow. There are now more blue people than a Smurf convention.’
The right answer was A) Big, as: ‘The words all have an opposite within the sequence.
‘Hot/Cold and Hard/Easy. Big replaces the question mark as the opposite of small.’
Elsewhere, a finalist on The 1% Club lost out on an incredible £98,000 jackpot after a tricky picture question.
A lone contestant, Liz, was the only person to qualify for the final round.
But when asked if she wanted to play for the jackpot or leave with £10,000, she turned to the audience for advice.
Leaving show host Lee in shock, he explained that ‘it was the first time anyone had done that’.
He then asked the audience by getting them to cheer if she should play and then clap if she shouldn’t.
She decided to take home the £10,000 rather than play for the difficult question, as she explained that the night before, she had a dream she lost a lot of money.
Were you able to work out the correct answer?
In a different episode, Liz (pictured) lost out on an incredible £98,000 jackpot after a tricky picture question
As per game rules, Lee awarded her the £10,000 but presented her with the final question.
Lee asked: ‘If you can roll six different numbers using one standard dice, how many different totals can you make by rolling three identical standard dice?’
She confessed that her answer would have been 180, but Lee revealed the answer was, in fact, 16.
ITV viewers flocked to X to share their reactions as they watched the show, as one person wrote: ‘Well played, Liz. Respect for making the correct decision. #The1PercentClub.’
‘This woman who had that dream must be psychic #The1PercentClub.’, added another.
‘Omg Liz! Hope your dreams come true, well, the opposite of the actual end #The1PercentClub.’
‘Her dream is coming true #The1PercentClub.’
The 1% Club airs Saturday nights on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
