Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have revealed the name of their third child, choosing a name that carries a touching connection to the late Queen Elizabeth II as well as links to English and Portuguese history.
The couple’s newborn daughter is Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, Eugenie announced on Instagram on Aug. 17, exactly two weeks after the baby girl was born.
Alongside the announcement, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II shared three photographs of Adelaide, including a sweet family moment featuring her older brothers, August Philip Hawke, 5, and Ernest George Ronnie, 3.
“2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world,” Eugenie wrote. “And since then we’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time.”
She continued: “We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”
Adelaide’s Name Pays Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

The great-grandmother referenced in Eugenie’s announcement is Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022 at the age of 96.
Eugenie is the daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the third-oldest of Queen Elizabeth II’s four children, making her a granddaughter of the late monarch and a niece of King Charles III.
The inclusion of Elizabeth in Adelaide’s full name provides a direct family tribute to her late great-grandmother.
Her first name also has a historic royal connection.
Queen Adelaide was Queen of the United Kingdom from 1830 until 1837 through her marriage to King William IV. The Australian city of Adelaide, one of the country’s largest cities, was named in her honor.
Eugenie also highlighted the importance of Portugal in explaining her daughter’s name, describing English and Portuguese history as part of the inspiration and noting that the family considers both places home.
August and Ernest Meet Their New Baby Sister

Adelaide joins Eugenie and Jack’s two sons, August and Ernest.
The three photographs shared with the announcement gave followers an early glimpse of the family of five, including a particularly sweet scene showing the two boys with their newborn sister.
“Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers,” Eugenie wrote.
August, whose full name is August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, is five, while Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank is three.
With Adelaide’s arrival, Eugenie and Jack are now parents to three children.

Adelaide was born on Aug. 3, 2026, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, according to the official announcement from the British royal family.
She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces at birth.
The royal family publicly confirmed her arrival the following day, on Aug. 4, but the couple did not reveal their daughter’s name at the time.
Instead, Eugenie and Jack waited until Aug. 17 to introduce Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank by name.
Following news of the birth, the royal family said: “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Where Adelaide Stands in the Royal Line of Succession

The newest member of Eugenie and Jack’s family is now 15th in line to the British throne.
Adelaide follows her two older brothers in the line of succession, with August and Ernest both ahead of their younger sister.
Although Adelaide’s arrival adds another member to Queen Elizabeth II’s growing family legacy, Eugenie’s announcement focused on the more personal meaning behind her daughter’s name.
By choosing Adelaide Elizabeth Annina, Eugenie and Jack have connected their newborn daughter to people they “love and admire,” while also acknowledging the English and Portuguese ties that have become an important part of their family’s story.
