A new psychological thriller that was shot in Wales will be airing on the BBC One and BBC iPlayer this weekend. The Rapture which stars Queen Charlotte’s India Amarteifio, Doctor Who’s Ruth Madeley, Game of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon, and Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones will air on Sunday, July 26.

The series is adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel about a teenager accused of killing her mother, who claims she has the ability to predict disasters. The brief trailer released by the broadcaster depicts Ruth Madeley as forensic psychologist Gabs Fox, who is employed at a high-security psychiatric institution where she comes face to face with 17-year-old Bethany, portrayed by India Amarteifio.

A synopsis revealed: “Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (played by Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religious movement.

“Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future – but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did?”.
