Thomas Markle “Hurt and Upset” Over Meghan and Harry’s UK Return as He Fears He May Never Meet Archie and Lilibet
Thomas Markle has spoken of his heartbreak over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported return to Britain, saying he learned about the move through the news and fears it could further reduce his chances of ever meeting his grandchildren.
Meghan’s estranged father has never met Prince Archie, seven, or Princess Lilibet, five. With the Sussex family now reportedly preparing to leave the United States for Britain, Thomas says the development has left him “hurt and upset.”
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, he claimed Meghan had not contacted him about the family’s plans.
“I saw on CNN that they were returning to England. I found out about it at the same time as the rest of the world,” he said.
Thomas Says He Feels Forgotten by Meghan

Thomas also expressed disappointment that his relationship with Meghan remains fractured, particularly while he is in hospital.
“I’m hurt and upset that she doesn’t give a damn about me, even though I’m in hospital,” he said.
Looking back at their relationship before their estrangement, Thomas described Meghan as having once been a “daddy’s girl.”
“Meghan used to love me, she was always a daddy’s girl, and now it’s like I don’t exist.”
His relationship with his daughter deteriorated in the period surrounding her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry after Thomas posed for staged paparazzi photographs. Meghan has not spoken to him since.
Despite the years of estrangement, Thomas insisted his feelings toward his daughter have not disappeared.
“I will never stop loving my daughter but I will never understand why she turned her back on me,” he said.
He Has Still Never Met Archie or Lilibet

The most painful element of the situation for Thomas appears to be his lack of a relationship with Meghan’s two children.
“I have never met my grandchildren, and now they are leaving America,” he said.
Thomas also reflected on what Archie and Lilibet might eventually think about their maternal grandfather as they grow older.
“One day those kids will ask about their ‘other’ grandfather – the one who isn’t King – the one that Meghan and Harry are apparently ashamed of,” he claimed.
“I hope they know how much I wanted to meet them.”
There is no indication in the report that Meghan or Harry have responded to Thomas’s latest remarks.
Sussex Family Preparing for Life in Britain
Harry and Meghan are reportedly preparing to return to the UK after spending years based in the United States.
Speculation continues over where they will establish their British home, with rural areas including the Cotswolds among the locations that have been suggested.
Archie and Lilibet are expected to begin attending their new schools in early September.
Their privacy is also expected to remain closely protected. It is understood that photographs of the children starting school will not be released, nor are regular birthday photographs expected in the manner associated with children of working royals.
For Thomas, however, the family’s relocation carries a much more personal significance.
After years without contact with Meghan and having never met Archie or Lilibet, he now fears their departure from America could leave the possibility of a relationship with his grandchildren even further out of reach.
