16 players OUT in 30 seconds… and viewers branded it a “killer question.” The 1% Club turned brutal when Lee Mack showed contestants three seemingly ordinary compasses and asked them to spot the impossible one. It was only the 40% round, yet 16 hopefuls crashed out immediately. The cruel part? Once Lee revealed the tiny directional trap, the answer suddenly looked painfully obvious. One viewer admitted: “This middle section is brutal.”

A KILLER question on The 1% Club wiped out several players – could you have answered it in 30 seconds?

The smash-hit ITV game show focuses on logic and common sense, rather than general knowledge.

Hosted by Lee Mack, the questions become increasingly harder as contestants hope to win up to £100,000.

In the latest episode, a large number of hopefuls fell short on the 40% question.

Shown photos of three compasses, the contestants were asked: “Which of these images can never produce a correct compass image, no matter how many times you rotate it or flip it?”

Ultimately, a whopping 16 people were eliminated after giving wrong answers.

Lee went on to explain that the correct solution was B.

When North and South come into the right positions, East and West are back to front and in the wrong positions.

One viewer wrote on X: “That was a killer question. #The1PercentClub.”

While another remarked: “The 40% question has beaten me & I’m out again. This middle section is brutal.”

Meanwhile, the episode also saw one player miss out on almost £100,000 in winnings.

Two players reached the final round and had the option to either attempt to answer the 1% question and win the £94,000 jackpot.

Or, alternatively, they could choose to leave with a share of £10,000 each.

Both opted to take their half of the £10,000, rather than risk not winning anything if they didn’t get the last question right.

Lee asked the final problem which was: “Yolande takes one tablet on every day of the week that has three vowels in total in it.

“She starts this pack on 2nd March. What date will she need to start a new pack?”

While being shown what their final question would have been, it turned out one of the players, Sara, actually got the answer right.

It meant that she missed out on winning £99,000.

“I wanted to not go home empty handed,” Sara told Lee about her decision to split the £10,000.

But Sara did appear disappointed after realising she had the chance to win big, but Lee did his best to reassure her.

“I still think you’ve done the right thing considering how difficult these questions can be,” he said.

Quiz question: Which compass image cannot be made correct regardless of rotation or flipping? Three compass rose options are shown.
