17 PLAYERS OUT on an 80% question — and even Lee Mack could only describe the damage with three words: “That was carnage.” The 1% Club had barely got going when a deceptively simple word puzzle wiped out almost a fifth of the original 100 contestants. Three statements appeared on screen, just 30 seconds went on the clock… and suddenly 17 players were finished. Viewers were stunned by the mass elimination, with some branding it a genuine “killer question.” And this was supposed to be one of the easier rounds.

THE 1% Club’s Lee Mack declared ‘that was carnage’ as an early question wiped out 17 players – but could you get it right?

Saturday night’s episode once again saw 100 contestants try and make it to the 1% question and be in with a chance to win a share of the jackpot.

Quiz show question: Which statement below is correct? A) Two words in this sentence have two letters. B) Three words in this sentence have three letters. C) Four words in this sentence have four letters. 80% shown.

But 17 players were knocked out early doors at the 80% question.

It was: “Which statement below is correct?”

The options were: “A) Two words in this sentence have two letters. B) Three words in this sentence have three letters. Or C) Four words in this sentence have four letters.”

The answer was C, but did you get it right?

When host Lee saw how many people had gone out, he declared: “That was carnage.”

Viewers at home agreed with Lee, as one wrote on X: “17 people out. It’s one of those killer questions.”

Another added: “17 out on the 80% question, wow.”

A third tweeted: “How on earth have 17 people gone out on that.”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “17? The country is doomed.”

In the end, only one person made it to the 1% question, a contestant named Steve.

He decided to gamble the £10,000 he had secured for getting that far to have a stab at winning £100,000.

The question was: “What two letters replace the question marks?”

Underneath the rest of the puzzling question read: “TE times T equals MESSAGE. TO times IN equals POISON. E times ?? equals LEAVE.“

After his 30 seconds were up, Steve revealed he had locked in his answer as “NE.”

There was a dramatic pause, then Lee revealed he had got it wrong, with the correct answer being “IT.“
