Princess Eugenie’s decision to build much of her family life in Portugal has taken on a new significance as the York family continues to face intense public scrutiny.

For Fitzwilliams, the decision to have their daughter in Portugal is significant.

He said Eugenie’s life abroad, combined with her remote work and Jack’s career, has helped create distance between the couple and the fallout surrounding the York family.

The sisters, however, are facing the same family crisis from very different circumstances.

Eugenie has the physical distance of Portugal, while Beatrice remains much closer to the centre of the controversy in Britain.

The possibility comes against the backdrop of renewed scrutiny of Sarah following the release of millions of pages of Epstein-related documents by the US Department of Justice in February.
