The 1% Club Viewers Left Stumped by Final Question as Series Comes to an End
The final question of The 1% Club left viewers just as puzzled as some of the contestants, with many admitting they could not work out why the answer was 111.
The ITV quiz show, hosted by Lee Mack, returned for its final episode on Saturday night, May 25, 2024. As usual, 100 contestants entered the studio hoping to make it through the increasingly difficult questions and claim a share of the £100,000 prize.
A deceptively simple final puzzle
By the final stage, just six players remained.
Lee Mack asked: “What three-digit number comes next in this sequence?”
He then revealed:
1, 8, 11, 69, 88, 96, 101
The correct answer was 111, but the solution left many viewers scratching their heads.
Some took to X looking for an explanation. One asked: “Please can someone explain how this is worked out.”
Another wrote: “The answer is 111 but I still don’t understand why. Can anyone explain?”
A third simply admitted: “Good question… I have no idea.”
Others began to spot the key to the puzzle, with viewers pointing out that the numbers look the same when turned upside down.
Two contestants crack the answer

Lee later explained the logic behind the sequence.
“All the numbers in this sequence remain the same when rotated 180 degrees. 111 is the next number for which this is true,” he said.
Of the six players still in the game, Rachel chose to take the money she had already won rather than risk walking away with nothing.
That left five contestants facing the final question, but only two managed to answer correctly. Together, they walked away with an impressive £98,000.
Fans already missing the show

As the series came to an end, The 1% Club also thanked viewers on its official Twitter account for playing along throughout the series.
Fans were quick to admit they would miss the Saturday night quiz, with one writing that they would “miss” the show and another saying they were “going to miss this Saturday quiz show.”
The 1% Club is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
