Office Romance, the latest romantic comedy film from Netflix released last Friday (5th June), has left viewers shocked with one of the most graphic scenes in recent film history.
The new rom-com stars Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein alongside superstar Jennifer Lopez as a lawyer and airline CEO whose professional and personal lives become entangled.
Lopez portrays formidable yet underestimated CEO Jackie Cruz opposite Goldstein’s straight-talking yet awkward Brit Daniel Blanchflower.

While they flout their office’s zero-tolerance policy against workplace romance, Jackie’s second-in-command Sydney Bloom (played by Betty Gilpin) grows suspicious of their after hours behaviour.
However, Sydney also happens to be heavily pregnant and, after refusing to take maternity leave, finds herself giving birth right in the middle of confronting Daniel about his feelings for Jackie.

The pressure of the situation, and some strong-arming from the intimidating Sydney, forces them to confess they’ve been sleeping together and the baby follows soon after in a surprisingly smooth delivery, all things considered.
Despite the childbirth scene being over almost as quickly as it start, fans have been left gobsmacked by the decision to show an incredibly graphic close-up of the baby’s crowning head.
Viewers have taken to X to react to the scene, which has had even more attention on it after a viral post encouraging them to fast-forward the film to the 1 hour and 20 minute mark for a full glimpse.
“The birth scene in office romance is the realest I have ever seen in a movie. What the hell,” one person said.

One post called it “one of the most graphic scenes of giving birth in modern cinema”.
Another scandalised user said: “I think I’ve been just been traumatized by the movie Office Romance on Netflix.. they literally showed a woman giving birth .. and I mean .. vaginal. I did not need to see that an [don’t] say it’s natural people! I’m fully aware! Good Lord!!!”
Though they also clarified they enjoyed the film, calling it a “cute rom-com”.
“That birth scene in office romance was completely unnecessary,” another viewer said, adding a crying laughter emoji.
A more positive post read: “Watching Office Romance on Netflix. JLO movies are always fashionable and entertaining. Also, nothing could’ve prepared me for that birth scene. Baby fever cured. Cute movie btw.”
And a final user reminded fans: “Everyone complaining about the birth scene in Office Romance — y’all you should be so lucky as to have that be your birth experience.”
Actress Gilpin has revealed that the prosthetic vagina used to recreate a realistic childbirth was a little disturbing, but she soon found comfort in her iconic co-star.

“Honestly, I was pretty freaked out when I first saw the prosthetic vagina,” Gilpin admitted to Variety.
“I had a nervous breakdown and then I was like, ‘Oh, but I’ll be holding the ultimate working mum’s hand, Jennifer Lopez, so what could go wrong?’”
