Riley Green Reveals The Two People His Future Girlfriend MUST Impress Before Their Romance Gets Serious — And One Of Them Has Four Legs!
Riley Green may be one of country music’s most eligible bachelors, but winning his heart apparently isn’t the only challenge facing his next girlfriend. Before any relationship gets serious, there’s one family member and one very special four-legged companion whose approval could make all the difference.
The The Voice Season 30 coach recently offered a candid glimpse into his romantic preferences during an appearance on Today, where he was promoting the NBC singing competition.
Asked whether he would prefer dating someone from Nashville or his home state of Alabama, Green made it clear that geography wasn’t a deciding factor.
“I don’t know what I’m looking for, you know? I don’t care where they live at,” he admitted.
But while he may not have a specific location in mind, the singer does have two important people whose opinions matter.
His Mother And His Dog Carl Have A Say In His Love Life
Green revealed that his mother is someone any potential girlfriend would need to impress.
“Probably just somebody that I think my mom will like,” he explained.
And then came the unexpected addition: his beloved dog, Carl.
The country star jokingly suggested that his canine companion should help narrow down the dating pool, turning the search for a future girlfriend into something of a selection process.
“If Carl and my mom like her — Carl’s my dog — …We should just line ’em up and have Carl see who he goes to,” Green said.
It’s an amusing approach, but Carl is hardly an unfamiliar name to the singer’s devoted fans.
The Australian cattle dog and corgi mix regularly appears on Green’s social media accounts and has even built a following of his own through a dedicated Instagram page.
Carl has also landed advertising campaigns with Busch Light and Gildan Underwear, making him something of a celebrity in his own right.
Megan Moroney Once Revealed Riley Green Inspired Her Song
Green has generally kept his private romantic life away from the spotlight, but that hasn’t stopped fans from connecting him to several familiar faces in country music.
One of the most talked-about rumored romances involved fellow country star Megan Moroney.
Speculation surrounding the pair intensified in late 2024 and early 2025 after reports that they had spent time together in St. Barts.
A TikTok video also added fuel to the rumors when fans claimed the two had been spotted together in Jacksonville, Alabama, although the footage never clearly established their identities.
Moroney eventually addressed her connection to Green during a July 2026 interview with Cosmopolitan, while discussing her album Cloud 9.
She confirmed that her song Who Hurt You? was inspired by the country singer.
The track even contains a pointed lyrical reference to their respective home states, Georgia and Alabama:
“I was blinded by the lies / And the manufactured smile / The devil went down to Georgia / Then he crossed the Bama line,” she sings.
While the revelation confirmed Green’s inspiration behind the song, Moroney stopped short of providing a detailed account of their relationship or how their connection unfolded.
Ella Langley And Other Country Stars Have Also Been Linked To Green
Moroney isn’t the only country music star whose name has been associated with Green.
His musical collaborations with Ella Langley, along with their onstage chemistry and duets, prompted plenty of fan speculation. However, both artists have maintained that they are friends rather than a couple.
Green was also previously linked to Nashville artist manager Sophia Sansone, who accompanied him to the 2022 CMA Awards. Neither publicly confirmed that they were romantically involved.
In late 2025, Sansone discussed a controlling relationship during a podcast appearance. Her comments sparked speculation among listeners about whether she was referring to Green, but she never identified the person involved.
Another round of dating rumors followed Green’s appearance at the November 2025 CMA Awards alongside social media influencer Bryana Ferringer.
Although the pair did not walk the red carpet together, cameras captured them sitting beside each other during the ceremony.
Green later addressed the speculation in an interview with Backstage Country, making it clear that Ferringer was simply a friend.
For Now, Carl And Mom May Be The Toughest Critics
Despite the steady stream of speculation surrounding his love life, Green hasn’t publicly confirmed a new relationship.
And judging by his latest comments, he isn’t particularly concerned about finding someone from a specific city or state.
Instead, his priorities appear much simpler: his future girlfriend needs to win over his mother and get along with Carl.
So while fans continue to wonder who might eventually become Riley Green’s next leading lady, one thing is clear: getting past the singer’s two most important critics could be the real test.
