Netflix viewers think they have found the perfect but “insane” true crime documentary that left them binge watching all three episodes at once. Fans quickly headed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to hail what some are calling a “10 out of 10” series.

The production, The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, was released on the streaming giant’s platform last month and quickly hit top spot on the most watched list. The three-part series explores the chilling quadruple murders in November 13, 2022.

The devastating news that four University of Idaho students, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were fatally stabbed at an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho after a night out.

The story quickly became worldwide news as onlookers pleaded for justice for the students who had their futures stolen. And the latest series has been a huge hit with fans.

Several labelled it “10 out of 10 viewing” with one commenting: “Netflix does a damn good job with their documentaries…Watching the Idaho Murders: College Nightmare now. Still such an insane story.”

Another agreed, saying: “Finished The Idaho Murders College nightmare last night, maaaaan that whole documentary was insane.”

And a third said: “Netflix has been dropping some incredible documentaries lately. Do yourselves a favor and check them out, starting with The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare. You won’t regret it!”

The documentary features input from law enforcers who eventually brought Brian Kohberger to justice. A number of family members of the students also put their points across on camera and viewers get to see the defiant messages loved ones directed at Kohberger as he was sentenced.

Following an investigation that lasted almost two months, DNA analysis showed there was evidence on the knife sheath which was traced to rubbish collected from Washington State University graduate Bryan Kohberger’s family home.

The synopsis reads: “With unprecedented access to the victims’ families and police footage, the series peels back the layers of a case that forever changed Moscow, Idaho, and asks the question that haunts everyone left behind: How do you make sense of something so senseless?”

Kohberger remains in prison after he pleaded guilty to all charges. He was subsequently sentenced to four consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole, therefore avoiding the death penalty.

However, Netflix has since reported: “Kohberger announced he was looking to take back his guilty plea and had already filed a petition challenging his conviction. He claimed that he is actually innocent and wants to obtain a trial.”

In a statement, Kohberger said: “My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn.”

The news has devastated family’s of the victims. Kaylee Goncalves’ family issued a response, comparing him to a “mosquito you just can’t seem to swat”.

Their statement said: “The real tragedy is this: if even a fraction of the energy spent trying to free a guilty man were directed toward honouring the victims, there would be statues of them on every corner, parks bearing their names, and days set aside to remember the lives they lost at the hands of a narcissist.”

The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare is available to watch on Netflix.
