PIERS MORGAN HIT WITH UNEXPECTED GMB BACKLASH — NARINDER KAUR SAYS ‘I HOPE SPENCER WINS’ OVER EARL’S DIANA BOOK
Piers Morgan’s decision to take legal action against Earl Charles Spencer has sparked an unexpected clash involving a familiar Good Morning Britain face.
As Morgan prepares to sue Spencer and his publishers over claims made about him in the new book Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, GMB panellist Narinder Kaur has publicly declared that she is backing Diana’s brother in the dispute.
Morgan announced his legal action on Monday night, accusing Spencer of publishing “demonstrable lies” about him.
“BREAKING: I am taking legal action against Earl Spencer and his publishers over demonstrable lies he has written about me in his new book, which call into question his credibility as a supposed ‘historian’,” Morgan wrote on X.
On his YouTube programme Uncensored, he doubled down on his criticism.
“This is all pretty extraordinary stuff, isn’t it? And very damning, particularly about me,” he said. “I come across in the most despicable manner imaginable. There’s just one problem. It’s all bullst and very, very easy bullst for me to prove it.”
NARINDER KAUR TAKES SPENCER’S SIDE
Morgan has argued that Spencer’s account contains a basic factual error over photographs of Princess Diana taken at a gym.
He said the Sunday Mirror published the pictures in November 1993 — two years before he began working at the Daily Mirror.
Despite Morgan’s defence, Narinder Kaur made her position clear on X on September 22.
“The man who once made a living putting other people’s reputations on the front page is now upset about some words… I hope Spencer wins,” she wrote.
The remark immediately drew attention because Kaur is a regular Good Morning Britain panellist, while Morgan previously presented the ITV breakfast programme alongside Susanna Reid before leaving in 2021.

Kaur’s post prompted a series of critical responses from some social media users who argued that Morgan was entitled to challenge claims he believes are inaccurate.
One commenter wrote: “Because Spencer totally got his facts wrong like the rest of his odious book. Hope the donation finds its way to the King’s trust.”
Another said: “That’s right. So Spencer should not have written that in his book. He lied. How many other lies has he written?”
A third wrote: “Omg Narinder, please start making sense. I can’t stand the bloke either but he has every right to start legal proceedings here and I hope Piers wins, purely for the sake of honesty.”
The reactions show the dispute has quickly moved beyond the original disagreement over Spencer’s book, with Morgan’s legal threat now becoming a point of debate among current and former figures connected to Good Morning Britain.
MORGAN’S LEGAL FIGHT
Morgan has maintained that the claims about his role in the Diana photographs are demonstrably wrong and has said the dispute will now be pursued through legal channels.
His legal action comes as Swan Song continues to generate controversy over Spencer’s recollections of Diana’s life and death, as well as his claims concerning King Charles.
With Spencer’s book now at the centre of several heated disputes, Morgan’s challenge has added another highly personal confrontation — this time over what he says is a simple question of fact.
