Harry And Meghan Could Leave UK Sooner Than Expected After Fresh Royal Setback — Royal Expert Predicts Montecito Return
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to Britain could be far shorter than expected after a royal commentator delivered a fresh blow to the couple’s hopes of settling back into UK life.
Just weeks after leaving their long-term home in Montecito, California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly faced a stark reminder of their position within the Royal Family. Now, royal journalist Dickie Arbiter has suggested they may not remain in Britain permanently.
Appearing on TalkTV with Jeremy Kyle, Mr Arbiter was asked whether the latest Palace intervention could mean Harry and Meghan’s UK stay would be temporary.
His prediction was striking: he believes the Sussexes could return to Montecito by Christmas.
‘I’m Not Sure They Are Here Long-Term’
Asked how long he expected Harry and Meghan to remain in Britain, Mr Arbiter said: “I’m not sure they are here long-term.”
He added that he “firmly” believed they would return to Montecito for Christmas, pointing to Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, as one reason.
The commentator also highlighted the complicated relationship between Meghan and her estranged father, Thomas Markle, while questioning whether reconciliation efforts should extend beyond Harry’s relationship with King Charles.
The prediction comes only around two weeks into the Sussexes’ latest UK chapter, making the prospect of another transatlantic move particularly striking.
Palace Draws A Clear Line
The comments follow the publication of a letter from Lord Benyon, the Lord Chamberlain, setting out Harry and Meghan’s current status for senior figures in Government and the military.
The guidance reiterated that the couple are non-working royals and confirmed that their His and Her Royal Highness styles remain in abeyance and are not to be used.
It also made clear that their charitable activities are undertaken in a private capacity and described their position as being akin to that of “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests”.
The Sussexes were reportedly “surprised” by the announcement, with their representatives understood to have had limited time to respond before the guidance was made public.
A New Life In Britain Still Taking Shape
The letter was released to the media at 3.06pm on Monday, after its contents were reportedly shared with Harry and Meghan’s team at 1.59pm.
Despite the controversy, the couple appear to be continuing with plans for their family’s life in Britain. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to start school in the UK close to the family’s reported countryside retreat.
That makes Arbiter’s Christmas prediction all the more intriguing. While Harry and Meghan have taken significant steps towards rebuilding a life in Britain, their long-term future in the country remains far from certain — and the latest royal boundary has added another unexpected complication to their return.
